Mark Edward Cowan Author of “To Help or Hang” 

Mark Edward Cowan is a retired physician and researcher of healthcare quality and outcomes.  

He served as the Associate Editor of the Encyclopedia of Medical Decision Making and for many years as the Chief, Clinical Decision Services for a large multi-hospital healthcare system. 

He received his A.B. (Residential College) and M.D. degrees from the University of Michigan, and an S.M. (Epidemiology) from the Harvard School of Public Health. 

He was a native of Sweden and alumnus of the University of Michigan went to Budapest in 1944 to confront the apparent hopelessness surrounding Jewish survival.
